On October 18, 2024, J&M Properties and Construction Corp participated as a Patron to the 51st CREBA National Convention held in Clark, Pampanga. With the theme “Philippine Real Estate and Housing: Navigating the Next Decade,” the convention brought together top developers, CREBA chapter members, government officials, and key stakeholders from the public and private sectors to explore the future of the real estate and housing industries in the Philippines. Representing J&M Properties were company Chairman Fernando Martinez and General Manager Enrique J. Martinez.
The event started with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, officially opening the National Convention, followed by the launch of housing and trade exhibits. Throughout the three-day convention, participants engaged in sessions covering critical topics such as fostering public-private partnerships, balancing human settlements with food security, and analyzing property trends related to tourism and environmental sustainability. Additional discussions centered on green building practices, innovative financing models, community involvement in sustainable housing, and policy reforms to enhance housing standards. Experts from the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, Clark International Airport Corporation, and other key public and private institutions facilitated these insightful discussions.
The convention also featured a keynote address from Senator Imee Marcos, Chair of the Urban Development, Housing, and Settlements Committee, who emphasized the role of legislation in supporting sustainable housing initiatives. A panel discussion followed, with representatives from the Home Mutual Development Fund, Development Bank of the Philippines, and Landbank of the Philippines highlighting the importance of accessible financing for housing projects.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar further underscored the urgency of public-private collaboration to address the nation’s 6.5 million housing backlog, particularly for informal settler families and low-income earners. In his speech, Secretary Acuzar emphasized the need for collective efforts, saying, “The government cannot do it alone. We need the support of all stakeholders, including CREBA and other developers’ groups.” He was joined by representatives from the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation and Social Housing Finance Corporation, who reinforced the need for alignment between public and private efforts to achieve the government’s housing goals.
Founded in October 1973 by Manuel M. Serrano and other industry pioneers, CREBA is the foremost organization for the real estate, housing, and construction sectors in the Philippines.
J&M Properties and Construction Corp.’s involvement in the convention demonstrates its continued commitment to advancing national housing programs and contributing to sustainable urban development. Through active collaboration with industry leaders and stakeholders, the company aims to provide innovative solutions that address the evolving challenges of real estate and housing in the Philippines.
